“Life can be found only in the present moment. The past is gone, the future is not yet here, and if we do not go back to ourselves in the present moment, we cannot be in touch with life.” -Thich Nhat Hanh
“Tell me what you need from your session today.”
This is the first question I ask clients in the treatment room. I invite you to arrive to the table having given some thought to what you need on any level; physical, spiritual and emotional. The truth is that each of these pieces cannot be separated. An imbalance in one aspect of our lives leads to tension in others. It’s inevitable. Sometimes we simply choose not to notice. Sometimes our habits and patterns have been created as protection, often showing up in the body.
My hope is that you come to your session without expectations, the willingness to let go and the desire to integrate bodywork more frequently into your healthcare regiment. I know first hand as a long-time recipient of therapeutic massage & bodywork and other healing arts practices that frequency is the key to experiencing the multitude of effects and benefits that can occur. I work therapeutically by integrating styles based on your therapeutic goals, which may range anywhere from stress & anxiety reduction to increased range of motion. Together in our pre-session conversation we will determine how best to use our time together. Approach your time on the the table as a quiet opportunity to bring greater awareness to your body and become more present in your experience of life. ‘Cause just like RuPaul says, “If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love anybody else!?”
I’ve been practicing for nearly 15 years. In addition to working on thousands of clients and training over the years in various approaches, I also have an MA in Counseling Psychology with two years of clinical experience in private practice. I’m currently working towards my 500 Yoga Teacher Training credential and deciding what direction to take in the mental health field as I work toward MFT licensure. All of this is my life’s work and impacts how I hold space for you in our time together.
I look forward to seeing you at the studio!
